For some time now we have been interviewing maids at hotels and motels gathering industry information and have learned the following.
There are over 430,000 maids working in the hotels, inns and motels in this country. These hard working employees perform most important services for us and yet only 20% to 23% receive a tip. Meanwhile we tip doormen, bellmen, bartenders, cocktail waitresses, table servers, hair dressers and the list goes on and on.
The maids professionally clean each room from door to windows leaving it and the bathroom looking like something a real estate agent would want to show off.
They care for our personal possessions, our clothing and many other items.
They have the key to our room and we totally trust them andthen forget them.
Think of the difference it would make if we stopped overlooking the maids. A few dollars a day is all it would take. So much to them and so little to us.
